'Assemble'... It may be the worst tagline to the greatest superhero film to date.
It's been a while since my last attempt at Marvel art so I thought I'd whip up a quickie sketch and etch before The Avengers premiere. It's not as smooth and fine as I wanted it to be; I was planning to spend about a couple of days for this but I just can not afford that much time along with all the projects on my plate.
I like this, but there's far too much glow on the characters, in my opinion.. The actual lighting on the characters reads ok, but the forms in the faces on Thor and Capt America need work. Surface materials are starting to feel good, but they could use a little extra push between the metals, cloths, leathers and skin. I would recommend some photo sourced textures, but if that's not the look you're going for, and you just want to keep it painterly, you can get away w/ the surface materials by painting their surface specularities and bounce lighting more correct.. poses feel pretty good, but the hands on Capt America feel a little wonky and could definitely use reference for both the material and hand shape. For the glowing parts, I think you could just keep it to Stark.. Thor's costume just has too many places to keep the viewer distracted.. perhaps an idea could be to have them glow more subtle as if they were warming up, like hot metal.. like an orange glow or something.. anyways.. my two cents.. this is looking good.. just encouraging a push
Hey! I could immediately tell this is totally based off of Marvel vs Capcom 3's design of the characters. One of my all time favorite games. I l really like your art and your subjects! This pic just makes it even better knowing that its based off one of my all time favorite games!
